Email Settings

Easy steps for setting up your email and webspace.

Email

Use When Connected via Eastlink Modem and not Sharing the Mailbox on Multiple Devices

Incoming Mail Server Information

Outgoing Mail Server Information

  • Server Type: POP3
  • Port: 995

  • Server Name: pop.eastlink.ca
  • Username: the entire email address
  • Password: provided by Customer/Eastlink
  • Enable SSL
  • Server Type: SMTP
  • Port: 25
  • Server Name: smtp.eastlink.ca
  • No SSL/TLS

Using the above POP3 setting will physically remove the email from the mail server and stores emails locally on your device within its email program.  If you need to have access to these same emails on a separate device or on webmail.eastlink.ca it would be recommended that you use the IMAP settings shown below.

Use When Connected With Multiple Devices Sharing the Same Mailbox

Incoming Mail Server Information

Outgoing Mail Server Information

  • Server Type: IMAP
  • Port: 993
  • Server Name: mail.eastlink.ca
  • Username: the entire email address
  • Password: provided by Customer/Eastlink
  • Enable SSL
  • Server Type: SMTP
  • Port: 587
  • Server Name: mail.eastlink.ca
  • Use STARTTLS

OR

  • Server Type: SMTP
  • Port: 465
  • Server Name: mail.eastlink.ca
  • Use SSL/TLS

Using the above IMAP setting will physically connect you to the email server and the stored messages would be visible to you within your devices email program.  This is the recommended setting to allow access to these same emails on a separate device or on webmail.eastlink.ca. In other words, you won't need to worry about which device you received a specific email on, since IMAP makes your emails available to all your devices.

Email Size Limits

Currently, Eastlink customers enjoy email inbox sizes of 2 GB storage space.
For sending or receiving large attachments, however, customers must keep individual email message sizes at 20MB or less.
Please Note: This refers to the size of the entire email message, not just its attachments

Customers who need to send messages larger than 20MB can try file compression tools such as ZIP or RAR utilities to compress large files and make them smaller. There are several free file compression tools you can find online with a simple web search for ZIP or RAR.

Also Note: While most email messages can be sent or received in the blink of an eye, large emails can take several minutes to be sent or received.

Webspace

We provide 30MB of space for you to upload your own website. The space is free with your Internet subscription.

If you’ve created your own website, just follow these simple instructions to upload your website files and folders to the space that Eastlink provides:

  • You will need an FTP program to upload your files and folders. There are many free FTP programs you can download online. Just search for FTP
  • Server Address: users.eastlink.ca
  • Port: 21
  • Username: Your username is everything before the @ symbol in the first Eastlink email address you created
  • Password: Same as the password for your first Eastlink email address
  • URL: users.eastlink.ca\~username
  • The homepage of your website must be named “index.html” and it must be stored in a folder named “public_html”

Eastlink Webmail
Delta/Coast Webmail
  • Eastlink email allows individual messages up to 20MB in size to be sent or received. Ensure the entire email, including attachments, is less than 20MB.
  • If, when sending, your email program seems to hang or stop working, it’s important to keep in mind that very large emails can take much longer to send than usual, depending on the size of the message and the speed of your internet service. Wait 5 – 10 minutes. If it still seems stuck at that point, close your email program, restart your computer and try to send again.
  • If at this point, the message still won’t send, please contact us by calling 1-888-345-1111 or click the online chat button for further assistance.
  • This usually indicates 1 of 2 possibilities: Either one of your incoming messages is corrupted, or is too large.
  • First, login to your email account here.
  • In the webmail inbox, you will see all of the messages currently waiting to be downloaded to your computer’s email program.
  • Check the size of each one. If any exceed 20MB, you will only be able to view it in webmail since it’s too large to download to your computer.
  • Delete any junk mail messages.
  • If no messages are over 20MB in size, click on each one to see if any of them cause an error when trying to open them, or only contain garbled/mixed-up characters. If any do, they have become corrupted during sending and will need to be deleted.
  • If none of these conditions are present, or if the above steps do not resolve the problem, please contact us by calling 1-888-345-1111 or click the online chat button for further assistance.
