Deleting Email
Deleting Mail Messages
  • If you delete a message from the Inbox, Sent, or Drafts folder, the deleted message is placed in Trash folder.
  • Messages in folders, including the Trash folder, are calculated as your current total usage.
  • Messages in the Trash folder (deleted from other folders) can be permanently removed by right clicking on the Trash folder icon and selecting Empty Trash. Any messages remaining in the Trash folder longer than 7 days will be automatically deleted.
  • When you delete messages from the Trash folder, your current quota usage is immediately reduced. For example, if your current usage is 8 MB and you delete a 2 MB message from the Inbox, your current usage will still be 8 MB. If you select the Trash folder and delete the 2 MB message, your current usage will now be 6 MB.
  • Clicking the logout button only terminates your WebMail session; it does not purge deleted messages (in the Trash folder) nor reset the calculation of your usage.
  • You can set up WebMail to automatically empty your Trash folder upon logout by adjusting this option through the Settings page link on the left of the Options page

Spam

Spam sent to your inbox can be deleted by selecting the email and clicking the Spam button. This will:

  • Forward the message to our anti-spam vendor (IronPort Systems) for use in fine-tuning our spam scanning rule-sets
  • Move the message to your Spam folder. Any messages in this folder will be automatically deleted after 7 days

You can also use the message filters feature to automatically move email from specified senders, to specified recipients or with specified patterns in the subject line into the Spam folder.

Note: There is also a Not Spam button in case a customer changes their mind or inadvertently marks a message as spam.

The Options page contains links to the Account Summary, Personal Information, Settings and Vacation Message pages.

To view the Options page, click the Options tab in the bottom left corner.
