We have implemented Universal Network-Level Call Blocking (UNCB) to provide our customers with a better phone experience. UNCB should help reduce some unwanted, unsolicited, spammed or spoofed phone calls, although it will not block all calls you may not want to receive.

What is Universal Network-Level Call Blocking (UNCB)?: UNCB is a service being added to all Eastlink landline and mobile phones that will block any phone numbers that are not recognized as an established phone number. For example, a non-established phone number could include a phone number with more than 15 digits or a string of numbers that do not accurately reflect an established phone number (000-000-0000).

Please note that there is a chance that some callers that are posing as telemarketers can spoof a legitimate phone number, which would not get blocked.
Does this mean I will no longer receive Telemarketing Calls?: No, any telemarketer who has properly identified themselves and have a legally registered phone number will still have the ability to call.
I received notice that I will now have it, do I have to keep it?: Yes. All Canadian carriers are taking steps to protect customers from receiving unwanted calls.
Will it cost me money?: No, UNCB will have no associated costs.
Will it block any calls I do not want blocked?: Any established national or international phone number should still be received.

If you experience an issue receiving any wanted calls you were previously receiving, please contact Eastlink support at 1-888-345-1111.
When will this UNCB service be added to my phone service?: UNCB was applied to all Eastlink Residential and Business landline and mobile phones in early 2020.
I am an Eastlink Business customer. How will this impact my business?: If you currently use a non-established Canadian telephone number, you will need to reprogram your equipment to ensure your calls are not blocked.
