To provide our customers with a better phone experience, this December (2019), we will be implementing Universal Network-Level Call Blocking (UNCB). UNCB should help reduce some unwanted, unsolicited, spammed or spoofed phone calls, although it will not block all calls you may not want to receive.

The below section contains frequently asked questions pertaining to Universal Network-Level Call Blocking.

A: UNCB is a service being added to all Eastlink landline and mobile phones that will block any phone numbers that are not recognized as an established phone number. For example, a non-established phone number could include a phone number with more than 15 digits or a string of numbers that do not accurately reflect an established phone number (000-000-0000).

Please note that there is a chance that some callers that are posing as telemarketers can spoof a legitimate phone number, which would not get blocked.

A: No, any telemarketer who has properly identified themselves and have a legally registered phone number will still have the ability to call.
