How do I configure my email?

Below you will find a collection of guides to assist you in configuring your Eastlink email address within a number of popular email clients.

Instructions exist for situations where you would be:

  • Connecting with specific devices - Example: iPhone, Android, MAC, etc.
  • Connecting with Secure Connection (SSL) - Used when mobile and not connected with your Eastlink Internet Connection.
  • Connecting with IMAP - Used when using your email account on multiple devices.
  • Connecting with a single device/computer only.

Select the software and situation that meets your needs from the list below for detailed instructions:

1.  Tap on the icon titled Email (this can be found on either main page or under Applications)

2.  Under Email address enter your email address

3.  Under Password enter your password

4.  Tap Manual setup

5.  Tap IMAP account

6.  Enter the following:

  • User name: Your email address
  • Password:  Your password
  • IMAP server: mail.eastlink.ca
  • Security type: SSL
  • Port: 993
  • IMAP path prefix: Do not enter anything
  • Tap Next

7.  Under Outgoing server settings enter the following:

  • SMTP server: mail.eastlink.ca
  • Security type: SSL
  • Port: 465
  • Require sign-in: Check the box
  • User name: Your email address
  • Password: Your password

8.  Tap Next

9.  Under Account options enter the following:

  • Email check frequency: Your preference
  • Notify me when email arrives: Your preference

10.  Tap Next

11.  Under Set up email enter the following:

  • Give this account a name (Optional): Enter Eastlink
  • Your name (Displayed on outgoing messages): Enter your full name

12.  Tap Done

1.  Tap Settings

2.  Tap Accounts & Passwords

3.  Tap Add Account

4.  Scroll down, tap Other

5.  Tap Add Mail Account

6.  Enter the following:

  • Name: Your display name
  • Email: Your email address
  • Password: Your password
  • Description: Eastlink

7.  Tap IMAP

8.  Under Incoming Mail Server:

  • Host Name: mail.eastlink.ca
  • User Name: Email address
  • Password: Your password

9.  Under Outgoing Mail Server:

  • Host Name: mail.eastlink.ca
  • User Name: Email address
  • Password: Your Password

10.  At the top tap Next

11.  Mail slider is set to On

12.  At the top tap Save

13.  If your setup did not auto-detect the email server details refer to the below instructions:

14.  Under Accounts tap Eastlink

15.  Under IMAP tap Account (your email address)

16.  Scroll down and under Outgoing Mail Server tap SMTP  mail.eastlink.ca

17.  Under Primary Server tap mail.eastlink.ca

18.  Under Outgoing Mail Server change the following:

  • Use SSL slider turned ON
  • Server Port: 465

19.  At the top tap Done

20.  You will be returned to the SMTP page

21.  At the top tap Account

22.  Tap on Advanced

23.  Scroll to the bottom of the page and change the following:

  • Use SSL slider turned ON
  • Server Port: 993

24.  At the top tap Account

25.  At the top tap Done

1.  Tap on Settings

2.  Tap on Mail, Contacts, and Calendars

3.  Tap Add Account, tap Other

4.  Tap Add Mail Account

5.  Type in your name, email address, email password and description (Eastlink)

6.  Incoming Mail Server

  • Host name: pop.eastlink.ca OR pop.3dccnet.com
  • User name: full email address
  • Password:  email password

7.  Outgoing Mail Server

  • Host Name: mail.eastlink.ca
  • User name: full email address
  • Password:  email password

8.  Click Save.

Once you have saved the account, you will then see the Mail, Contacts and Calendars screen again. 

9.  Under accounts, tap Eastlink

10.  Scroll down to Outgoing Mail Server

  • SMTP: mail.eastlink.ca, tap on the arrow
  • Primary Server: mail.eastlink.ca: On, tap on the arrow
  • Use SSL: ON
  • Authentication: Password
  • Server Port: 465

11.  Tap Done.

1.  Open Mac Mail

2.  Click Mail

3.  Click Preferences

4.  Click Accounts

5.  On the left side you will see Accounts, at the bottom left, click +

6.  Add Account

  • Full Name: Display name
  • Email Address: Full email address
  • Password: Email password
  • Click Continue

7.  Incoming Mail Server

  • Account Type: POP
  • Description: eastlink.ca
  • Incoming Mail Server: pop.eastlink.ca OR pop3.dccnet.com
  • User Name: Full email address
  • Password: Email password
  • Click Continue

8.  Outgoing Mail Server

  • Description: eastlink.ca
  • Outgoing Mail Server: smtp.eastlink.ca
  • Put check mark in Use only this server
  • Click Continue

9.  Account Summary

  • Click Create

10. Now you will see the Accounts screen again, click on the Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) drop down list.  Select Edit SMTP Server List.

11. Select eastlink.ca from the above list, the Account Information will be showing below, click Advanced

12. Use custom port 25, click OK

13. Close Accounts screen

2.  Click Mail

3.  Click Preferences

5.  On the left side you will see Accounts, at the bottom left, click +

  • Full Name: Display name
  • Email Address: Full email address
  • Password: Email password

  • Click Continue

8.  Outgoing Mail Server

  • Description: eastlink.ca
  • Outgoing Mail Server: mail.eastlink.ca
  • Put check mark in Use only this server
  • Click Continue

9.  Account Summary

  • Click Create

10. Now you will see the Accounts screen again, click on the Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) drop down list.  Select Edit SMTP Server List.

11. Select eastlink.ca from the above list, the Account Information will be showing below

12.  Advanced

  • Use custom port 465
  • Autentication: Password
  • User Name: Full email address
  • Password: Email password
  • Click OK

13. On Accounts screen, click on Advanced

  • Port 995
  • Put check mark in Use SSL
  • Authentication: Password

14. Close Accounts screen

  • Click Continue

9.  Account Summary

  • Click Create

10. Now you will see the Accounts screen again, click on the Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) drop down list.  Select Edit SMTP Server List.

  • Use custom port 465
  • Autentication: Password
  • User Name: Full email address

13.  On Accounts screen, click on Advanced

  • Put check mark in Use SSL

14. Close Accounts screen

2. Click on Tools, then E-mail Accounts

3. E-mail

  • Add a new e-mail account, click Next.

4. Click Add

5. Select POP3, then click Next.

6. User Information

  • Your Name: Display Name
  • E-mail Address: Full E-mail Address
  • Logon Information
    • User Name: Full E-mail Address
    • Password: E-mail Password
    • Put a check mark in Remember password
  • Server Information
    • Incoming mail server (POP3): pop.eastlink.ca OR pop3.dccnet.com
    • Outgoing mail server (SMTP): smtp.eastlink.ca

7. Click Next, then click Finish

2. Click on Tools, then E-mail Accounts

3. E-mail
Add a new e-mail account, click Next.

4. Click Add

5. Select POP3, then click Next.

6. User Information

  • Your Name: Display Name
  • E-mail Address: Full E-mail Address
  • Logon Information
    • User Name: Full E-mail Address
    • Password: E-mail Password
    • Put a check mark in Remember password.
  • Server Information
    • Incoming mail server (POP3): pop.eastlink.ca
    • Outgoing mail server (SMTP): mail.eastlink.ca

7. Click More Settings, then click Next

8. Click on Outgoing Server tab, put a check mark in My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication, Use same settings as my incoming mail server

9. Click Advanced tab

  • Server Port Numbers
    • Incoming server (POP3): 995
    • Put a check mark in This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL)
    • Outgoing server (SMTP): 465
    • Put a check mark in This server requires an encrypted Connection (SSL)
    • Put a check mark in Leave a copy of messages on the server, then click OK
10. Click Next, then click Finish.

1. Open Outlook 2007

2. Click Tools

3. Click Account Settings

4. Click New

5. Select Microsoft Exchange, POP3, IMAP or HTTP, then click Next

6. Put a check mark in Manually configure server settings or additional server types. Click Next.

7. Select Internet E-mail, click Next.

8. Internet E-mail Settings

  • User Information:
    • Your name: Your name
    • E-mail Address: Full email address
  • Server Information:
    • Account Type: POP3
    • Incoming mail server: pop.eastlink.ca OR pop3.dccnet.com
    • Outgoing mail server: smtp.eastlink.ca
  • Logon Information:
    • User name: Full email address
    • Password: Email password
    • Put a check mark in Remember password
9. Click Next, then click Finish.

2. Click Tools

3. Click Account Settings

4. Click New

5. Select Microsoft Exchange, POP3, IMAP or HTTP, then click Next

6. Put a check mark in Manually configure server settings or additional server types. Click Next.

7. Select Internet E-mail, click Next.

8. Internet E-mail Settings

  • User Information:
    • Your name: Your name
    • E-mail Address: Full email address
  • Server Information:
    • Account Type: POP3
    • Incoming mail server: pop.eastlink.ca
    • Outgoing mail server: mail.eastlink.ca
  • Logon Information:
    • User name: Full email address
    • Password: Email password
    • Put a check mark in Remember password

9. Click More settings

10. Click on Outgoing Server tab, put a check mark in My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication, Use same settings as my incoming mail server

11. Click Advanced tab

  • Incoming server (POP3): 995
  • Put a check mark in This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL)
  • Outgoing server (SMTP): 465
  • Use the following type of encrypted connection, Password
  • Under Delivery, put a check mark in Leave a copy of messages on the server
  • Click OK.
12. Click Close on Accounts Settings window.

1.  Open Outlook 2010

2.  Click on File

3.  Click Account Settings

4.  You will see a window that is titled E-mail Accounts, Select " New "

5.  This will open Internet E-Mail Settings, please select "Manually configure server settings or additional server types and click Next

6. Select Internet E-mail and click Next

7. Please put in the following information.

  • User Information
    • Your name: The name you would like people to see when you send them an email
    • E-mail Address: Your email address
  • Server Information
    • Account Type: POP3
    • Incoming Mail Server: pop.eastlink.ca OR pop3.dccnet.com
    • Outgoing Mail Server: smtp.eastlink.ca (if on a desktop computer)
  • Logon Information
    • User Name:Your full email address
    • Password: Your email password
    • Please put a check mark in Remember password
8.  Click Next, then click Finish.

1.  Open Outlook 2010

2.  Click on File

3.  Click Account Settings

4.  You will see a window that is titled E-mail Accounts, Select " New "

5.  This will open Internet E-Mail Settings, please put in the following information.

  • User Information
    • Your name: The name you would like people to see when you email them.
    • E-mail Address: Your email address
  • Server Information
    • Account Type: POP3
    • Incoming Mail Server: pop.eastlink.ca
    • Outgoing Mail Server: mail.eastlink.ca
  • Logon Information
    • User Name: Your full email address
    • Password:  Your email password
    • Please put a check mark in Remember password

6.  Click More Settings, this opens the Internet E-mail Settings, please click Outgoing Server, put a check mark in My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication and select Use same settings as my incoming mail server.

7.  Click on Advanced, then Server Port Numbers

  • Incoming server (POP3): 995
  • Put a check mark in This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL)
  • Outgoing server (SMTP): 465
  • Use the following encrypted connection: SSL
  • Down near the bottom is Delivery, if you are checking your email from multiple devices, put a check mark in Leave a copy of the messages on the server.
  • Then click OK at the bottom of the window.

8.  This will bring you back to Internet E-mail Settings, click Next, then click Finish.

1.  Open Outlook

2.  Click the File tab

3.  In the Info category, click Account Settings, and then click Account Settings in the dropdown.

4.  On the Email tab, click New.

5.  Click the Manual setup or additional server types check box, and then click Next.

6.  Click POP or IMAP and then click Next

7.  Under User Information , configure the following settings:

  • In the Your Name box, type your full name.
  • In the Email Address box, type your full email address.
8.  Under Server Information, configure the following settings:
  • Select Account Type: POP3
  • Incoming mail server: pop.eastlink.ca
  • Outgoing mail server: mail.eastlink.ca

9.  Under Login Information, configure the following settings:

  • User Name: Your email address
  • Password: Email password
  • Check mark in: Remember password
  • Check mark in: Require logon using Secure Password Authentication (SPA)

10.  Click More Settings

11.  On the Outgoing Server tab, configure the following:

  • Check mark in: My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication
  • Select: Use same settings as my incoming mail server
12.  On the Advanced tab, configure the following:
  • Set the Incoming server to: 995
  • Check mark in: This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL)
  • Set the Outgoing server to: 465
  • Select SSL from the encryption dropdown
  • Click OK

13.  Click Next

14.  Click Finish

1.  Open Outlook

2.  Click the File tab

  • Check mark in: Require logon using Secure Password Authentication (SPA)

10.  Click More Settings

11.  On the Outgoing Server tab, configure the following:

  • Check mark in: My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication
  • Select: Use same settings as my incoming mail server

12.  On the Advanced tab, configure the following: 

  • Set the Incoming server to: 993
  • Select: SSL from the encryption dropdown
  • Set the Outgoing server to: 465
  • Select: SSL from the encryption dropdown
  • Click OK

13.  Click Next

14.  Click Finish

1.  Open Outlook Express

2.  Click Tools, then click Accounts

3.  Click on Add

4.  Enter in Display name, click Next

5.  Enter full email address, click Next

6.  Server Information:

  • Incoming mail server: pop.eastlink.ca OR pop3.dccnet.com
  • Outgoing mail server: smtp.eastlink.ca
  • Click Next

7.   Account Details:

  • Account name: Full e-mail address
  • Password: E-mail password

8.  Click Finish

9.  Click Close

9.  Click on Eastlink, under Accounts

10.  Select Properties, located on the right

11.  Click on Servers tab

  • Server Information
    • Incoming mail (POP3): pop.eastlink.ca
    • Outgoing mail (SMTP): mail.eastlink.ca
  • Outgoing Mail Server
    • Put check mark in My server requires authentication, click Settings, same as incoming mail server

12.  Click on Advanced tab

  • Server Port Numbers
    • Outgoing mail (SMTP): 465
    • Put check mark in This server requires a secure connection (SSL)
    • Incoming mail (POP3):  995
  • Delivery
    • Put check mark in Leave a copy of the messages on the server

13.  Click OK, then click close

6.  Display name: Full name

7.  E-mail address: Full e-mail address, click Next

8.  Set up e-mail servers

  • E-mail username: Full e-mail address

  • Check mark in Remember password
  • Click Next

2.  Click on Tools

4.  Click Add

5.  Select E-mail Account, click Next

6.  Display name: Full name

7.  E-mail address: Full e-mail address, click Next

8.  Set up e-mail servers

  • Incoming e-mail server type: IMAP
  • Incoming mail server: mail.eastlink.ca
  • Outgoing e-mail server name: mail.eastlink.ca
  • Check mark Outgoing server requires authentication
  • Click Next

9.  Internet Mail Logon

  • E-mail username: Full e-mail address
  • Password: E-mail password
  • Check mark in Remember password
  • Click Next
  • Click Finish

10. Internet Accounts window, click Properites

11. Servers tab

  • Outgoing Mail Server
  • Check mark My server requires authentication
  • Click Settings
  • Use same settings as my incoming mail server, click OK

12. Advanced tab

  • Server Port Numbers
    • Outgoing mail (SMTP): 465
    • Check mark This server requires a secure connection (SSL)
    • Incoming mail (IMAP): 993
    • Check mark This server requires a secure connection (SSL)
  • Delivery
    • Check mark Leave a copy of messages on server
    • Click Apply and OK

***Important*** There must be a Microsoft account entered first (ex. @hotmail, @live, @outlook) in order to add additional email accounts. 

1.  Once a Microsoft account has been added move your mouse to the bottom right of the screen.

2.  You will see 5 icons appear.  Move your mouse to the symbol entitled Settings and click on it.

3.  A blue side bar will open on the right side of the screen.  Click on Accounts.

4.  Then click on Add an account.

5.  Click on Other Account.

6.  A new page will open asking for the Email address and Password.

7.  Enter your Email address and Password.

8.  Below click on Show more details.

9.  Under Username add your full email address.

10.  Under Incoming (IMAP) email server enter: mail.eastlink.ca.  Beside that Port: 993.

11.  Under Outgoing (SMTP) email server: mail.eastlink.ca.  Beside that Port: 465.

12.  Make sure that all 4 check boxes are checked.

13.  At the bottom click Connect.

1.  Open E-mail Windows Mail

2. Click on Accounts

3. A blue side bar will open on the right side of the screen.  Click on + Add Account

4. Click on Other Account Pop, IMAP

5. Provide the information requested:

                Email Address: Full E-mail address

                Password: Type your E-mail password

6. Click Sign In

                The software will attempt to automatically configure the E-mail account on your computer, if successful then you are done, otherwise continue with step 7

7. Click Advanced

8. Confirm/Provide the information requested:

                For Account Name: Eastlink E-mail

                Your Name: Your Full Name

                Incoming Mail Server: mail.eastlink.ca

                Account Type: IMAP4

                Email Address: Full E-mail address

                User Name: Full E-mail address

                Password: E-mail Password

                Outgoing SMTP Email Server: mail.eastlink.ca

9. Ensure there is a check mark in all 4 check boxes

10. Click Sign In

11. Click Done

1.  Open Windows Live Mail

2.  Click Add e-mail account, located near the bottom left

3.  Add E-mail Account

  • E-mail address: Full email address
  • Password:  Email password
  • Display Name: Full Name
  • Put a check mark in Manually configure server settings for e-mail account, click Next.

4.  Incoming Server Information

  • My incoming mail server is a POP3 server
  • Incoming server: pop.eastlink.ca OR pop3.dccnet.com

5.  Outgoing Server Information

  • Outgoing server: smtp.eastlink.ca
  • Click Next

6.  Click Set this account as the default mail account.

  • Click Finish

1.  Open Windows Live Mail

2.  Click Add e-mail account, located near the bottom left

  • E-mail address: Full email address
  • Password:  Email password

  • Put a check mark in Manually configure server settings for e-mail account, click Next.

5.  Outgoing Server Information

  • Outgoing server: mail.eastlink.ca
  • Port: 465
  • Check mark This server requires a secure connection (SSL) and My outgoing server requires authentication
  • Click Next

6.  Click Set this account as the default mail account.

  • Click Finish

5.  Outgoing Server Information

  • Port: 465
  • Check mark This server requires a secure connection (SSL) and My outgoing server requires authentication
  • Click Next

6.  Click Set this account as the default mail account.

  • Click Finish

2.  Click on Accounts Tab

3.  Click Email Account and press next.

4.  Enter the following information

  • Email Address: Your email address
  • Password:  Email password
  • Check mark in Remember this password
  • Check mark in Make this my default email account and Manually configure server settings

  • My incoming mail server is a POP3 server

6.  Outgoing Server Information

  • Outgoing server: smtp.eastlink.ca
  • Click Next

    • My incoming mail server is a POP3 server.
    • Incoming mail (POP3): pop.eastlink.ca
    • Outgoing mail (SMTP): mail.eastlink.ca
  • Incoming Mail Server
    • Email username: Full email address
    • Password: Email password
    • Check mark in Remember password
    • Log on using clear text authentication
  • Outgoing Mail Server
    • Put check mark in My server requires authentication
    • Click Settings
    • Use the same settings as my incoming mail server, click OK

8.  Click Advanced tab

  • Server Port Numbers
    • Outgoing mail (SMTP): 465
    • Check mark This server requires a secure connection (SSL)
    • Incoming mail (POP3): 995
    • Check mark This server requires a secure connection (SSL)
  • Delivery
    • Check mark Leave a copy of messages on server
  • Click Apply and OK.

1.  Open Windows Live Mail

2.  Click on Accounts Tab

3.  Click Email

4.  Enter the following information

  • Email Address: Your email address
  • Password:  Email password
  • Check mark in Remember this password\
  • Check mark in Make this my default email account and Manually configure server settings
  • Click Next

5.  Click Finish

6.  Click Properties

7.  Click Servers

  • Server Information
    • My incoming mail server is a IMAP server.
    • Incoming mail (IMAP): mail.eastlink.ca
    • Outgoing mail (SMTP): mail.eastlink.ca
  • Incoming Mail Server
    • Email username: Full email address
    • Password: Email password
    • Check mark in Remember password
    • Log on using clear text authentication
  • Outgoing Mail Server
    • Put check mark in My server requires authentication
    • Click Settings
    • Use the same settings as my incoming mail server, click OK

8.  Click Advanced tab
