Getting Started with Eastlink WebMail


The difference between WebMail and your regular email program.

Both Webmail and the email program on your home or office computer collect your messages from the same Eastlink mail server. This means that any email messages you open through your regular email program will not be viewable on Eastlink Webmail, because they have already been downloaded from the email server and now reside locally on your computer.

We recommend that you keep your email program on your home or office computer closed when you plan to use Eastlink Webmail. By doing this, the messages will not be downloaded to your computer and will be available through Eastlink Webmail.

Logging in to Eastlink Webmail:

1. Click on the login button on the Eastlink Webmail page.
2. Enter your Eastlink email address and password in the fields provided.

From time to time, Eastlink will send emails to its customers advising them of potential safety and security issues. These messages will never ask you to divulge passwords or personal information nor will they contain links to external web sites. They will, however, contain directions on where to find more information and how to get in touch with Eastlink.

When you need to reset the password for your Internet services and subscriptions, the process often involves sending you an email containing a temporary password or a link to a reset page. For this reason it is very important to protect your email account. If an unauthorized person can gain access to your mailbox, they may be able to reset the passwords for your other accounts.

How to Protect Your Mailbox


There are several easy steps that you can take to protect your inbox. The first step is to change your password to something difficult to guess. To guard against those who may be trying to access your mailbox, avoid easily guessable character combinations like "1234" for example.

For a strong password, use at least 8 characters, using upper and lower case letters, numbers and punctuation. 

You could combine several deliberately misspelled words in a way that is meaningful to you and easy to remember. For example, "LuvBlooberryKrumbel".

For additional protection, it's also a good idea to avoid re-using your email password on other internet services.
