Credit Limit Program


What is the credit limit program?


When you activate with Eastlink Wireless you may be enrolled in our Spending Limit Program which gives you a spending limit of $200. While on the spending limit program your amount owing, including rate plans, add-ons, device payment, and any unbilled usage, cannot exceed $200.


How is the spending limit calculated?


Your account is assigned a spending limit of $200. This means that all lines under that account will contribute toward the same $200 spending limit.

The spending limit consists of a number of component charges, such as:

Your Monthly Recurring Charges (MRC): Includes the price of your rate plan(s), any add-ons you may have, and monthly device fees.

Unbilled usage: Includes any usage charges that are outside of your plan. For example, roaming charges, long distance, additional airtime, etc.

Current Account Balance: The overall amount of your latest bill.

Payments / Adjustments: Includes any payments and/or adjustments that have been made to your account.

Taxes: Includes taxes on current charges and MRC; taxes on unbilled use charges will not be considered.


Will I be notified when I reach the spending limit?


Yes. There are three notifications sent via text message as you are approaching the $200 spending limit. The notifications will be sent when the remaining balance for the spending limit reaches:

  • $30 (15% remaining)
  • $10 (5% remaining)
  • $2 (1% remaining)

You will receive a fourth notification once the $200 spending limit has been reached.

Your monthly spending limit of $200 has been reached. Please make a payment to resume your service (online, *611 or in store). Free message from Eastlink.
All spending limit notifications are free of charge.


Can I use my phone when I have reached the spending limit?


Yes, in most cases. Once you have reached your $200 spending limit, you would continue to have access to the usage included in your monthly plan. (In other cases, you may be required to call us at *611, free of charge, to continue use of your phone.)

You will not be able to use your phone for any usage that may cause incremental charges over and above your monthly plan.


How can I restore my service once the spending limit has been reached?


You can have your full services restored by paying the amount owed in full.


Can I be removed from the spending limit program?


Yes. After 6 months of consecutive invoices paid in full you may be removed from the spending limit program, at Eastlink’s discretion. When you are removed, we will send an email notification to the email address on our account.
